The sofa hunt

When it came to furnishing our NY apartment, we bought only three things brand new. Our bed frame, mattress and our sofa. Our sofa was easily our biggest expense and I agonized over its purchase. I ordered so many fabric samples I ended up using them to make birthday cards, face masks and other random decorative gifts. I think at last count it was around 50.

I swayed between wanting a lime greeny colour, too sage, too dark, too teal. It was honestly exhausting. I was looking at sofas priced from $600 to $6,000, but was swiftly and firmly reminded by my husband that our budget was $1,000. I was horrified! There was NO WAY we could get anything nice for $1,000. I scoured and scoured, until 1am most nights to no avail; until….I received a sample in the post from Apt2b. The color was stunning and it was so so soft, and plush and I wanted to rub it on my face – I knew it was the one but also knew that just my luck I’d go back on the website and it would be the $6,000 sofa. To my delighted surprise it was $1,300! I couldn’t believe it! I went skipping to my husband to proudly inform him I had finally found the one. With a casualness that caused my blood to boil he turned and said ‘that’s over budget.’

I won’t go into the conversations to follow apart from to inform you all that we placed our order three days later for the Ryandale sofa in forest green from Apt2b – and I meannnnnn look at it!
